DIY for Kids

I absolutely love DIY crafts! There are so many creative ideas out there that make me squeal with delight! RIght now Dylan is more interested in the little things - which I adore! Just about anything can keep him entertained. No need for expensive toys (he likes those too of course), anything that gets his curiosity brewing is perfect for him. Handing him an empty paper towel roll makes his eyes light up with elation. Ryan has taught him the neat concept of moving items from one place to another. They will take two containers and put a a set of keys inside one then dump them into the other. Last night at my Mom's cookout, he played with two trash cans full of birdseed for almost half an hour! He would scoop up some seed, walk to the other trash can & dump them in, then go back for more. Back and forth and back and forth. I love how he is constantly looking at things and figuring out the way things work - both traditionally and creatively.

I also look forward to all the crafts we will get to do together when he gets a little older. With just a few household items and a little imagination, there are all sorts of fun activities to keep us busy! Here are a few ideas and websites I found on Pinterest!

Fingerprint Festivities: Colorful fingerprints to celebrate a few major holidays.

Sponge Bombs: for fun water play!

Kid Car Wash: Colorful water fun!
Noodles, sprinklers, and sponges make for a cute way to play on a hot day!

Citrus Planter: Biodegradable seedling planter.
You start a seedling in the rind of any citrus fruit, and when the seedling is ready, you plant the entire thing!

Paint Bag: Squeeze a little paint into a ziplock bag and seal it up. Let them draw shapes with a Q-Tip. A fun, clean way to practice numbers and letters...or doodle!

Outdoor Color Match. Punch holes in paint chips and let the kids roam the yard to find color matches. A cute way to get the kids outside and into nature.

Cardboard Boxes: You can do just about anything with a cardboard box - the possibilities are endless! Here, a Mom made a super highway for her daughter to race her cars around. This website shows TONS of ways to play with cardboard! Innovative & cheap!

Multicolored crayons: Chop up crayons and put the chunks into silicone molds. Warm them until they melt together then cool and pop out! Fun to draw with, give as gifts, or use as favors!

Popsicle Stick Puzzle:  Attach a photo to Popsicle sticks and cut into strips. Such a sweet simple way to turn a photo of a loved one into a fun game.

These are just a few of the endless ideas to craft and play with your kids.
Looking forward to all the fun to be had :)
