Seven Month Update

Month seven has been the most exciting yet! Dylan changes so rapidly, and just in the past few weeks he has learned so much. His mind is constantly going, looking for new things to play with and new places to explore! With each new talent comes more of his silly, mischievous, adorable personality. Here are a few tidbits of the fun we have had lately!

 Food is now a fun part of our day. He stares at us intently while we eat in front of him, wondering where his bite is! We give him purees occasionally, now with fun spices - recent favorite, cinnamon carrots.
Mostly however, we give him tastes of what we are eating! He loves apples and mashed potatoes. Within the past few days we started giving him Gerber Graduate Sweet Potato Puffs to practice using his little pincers. He opens his mouth from across the kitchen when we get them out :)

For Christmas, Dylan got his two front teeth - literally! He had one tooth on the bottom popping through a few weeks before, and on Christmas morning there were two tiny pearly whites!
Just over the past few days we saw a little white gleaming through on the top, only to find that he has FOUR teeth coming in! No wonder he is fussy...poor kiddo!

While Dylan is exploring new foods, he is certainly maintaining his love for chewing on just about anything he can get into his mouth. I call him our little goat.

This is Dylan's spatula. Who needs toys when you've got kitchen utensils?
His goat tendencies at their best - nom nom
parentfail. Turn around for just one.second. and he's got something naughty! (Chloe's toy)

We had a fun NYE! We bundled up and went to the annual Beinke party. It was so fun to see everyone!! I failed to get pictures with friends...boo me. Dylan did not make it to the ball drop to say the least! He let us know when it was a little too much past his bedtime and we said our goodbyes and headed home.
We put him in bed straight from the car seat (so rare) and Ryan and I cuddled up with Chloe and rang in the new year.

Hanging out on TLB forums I saw many babies wearing amber necklaces. I did a little research and we decided to get one for him! There is a natural concentrate of Succinic Acid in the beads and when worn against the skin it helps to ease the pain of teething.
They claim to: •Contain Immune boosting properties
•Reduce teething pain •Calm a baby without resorting to drugs •Reduce inflammation.
He has been wearing it for a couple weeks and honestly I have no clue if it is working or not...but he hasn't been as fussy as I would imagine a baby with four new teeth would be, so I'll keep putting it on him. It can't hurt! We got ours from Amber Artisans.
Tip if you are thinking of buying one: The lighter the amber the better it is supposed to work.

enjoying nakey time before his bath!
such a little ham!

Dylan has been enjoying his piano lessons with Grandma. He loves to bang on the keyboard and listen to her make up songs. "I am a BABY!"

Dylan can now crawl! It isn't quite the traditional way of crawling, but he can head forward to a desired destination...and fast! So I am giving him the milestone :)
Weeks before, he learned to go forward he showed us that he could pull himself up to standing. It is definitely one of his favorite skills to practice. There's no taking an eye of this kid anymore...we will look over and he will be standing there grinning at us! Just this weekend he learned to roll from his tummy to the sitting position.
So many skills SO fast! Hes on a roll...

{Crawling }

can't you see his little wheels turning?

{Sitting}

& {Standing} oh my!

At his six month appointment the Doctor said that by about nine months he might be able to use a sippy cup. We were excited to pull out his OU sippy and give it a try. He didn't quite understand at first, but after a few tries he loved it! He drinks water like a little fish now. We got him a straw cup just a few weeks ago and he is so proud of himself when he uses it.

He is sprouting like a weed so we tried to capture his current tiny-ness with some footprints! More paint ended up on us/the towel/chloe/the kitchen than the paper. We got one pretty good one though! We will give it another shot soon!

We look forward to celebrating his 8 month birthday soon. I can't wait for all the new milestones!
